Privacy policy

This policy explains what CaptionStudio collects, why we collect it, and how you can ask us to change or delete it. We do not sell your footage or your email list.

1. Who we are

CaptionStudio is the caption product operated from India. For privacy questions, email nkmalhotra4503@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy”.

If we appoint a formal data protection contact later, we will name them on this page.

2. What we collect

Depending on how you use the studio, we may process:

• Account data: name, email, password hash, and verification status when you sign up.
• Plan and usage: current plan, billing cycle, daily video usage, and invoices generated on this device.
• Video and audio: files you upload so we can transcribe speech and time each word.
• Project data: captions, styles, and settings stored in this browser today.
• Support mail: whatever you send us, so we can reply.
• Technical logs: basic request metadata needed to keep the service up (time, status, error).

3. How we use video and audio

You upload a clip so we can generate captions. We extract audio in the browser or on our server, then send that audio to a speech engine (such as Deepgram) to get word-level timestamps. When the transcript needs cleanup, a language model may see the text — not your full raw video unless a step requires it.

We do not use your videos to train a public model for other customers. We do not sell clips, faces, or voices.

4. Accounts, billing, and referrals

When you create an account we store the email you confirm. Plan, usage, and referral state are tied to that account.

Payment notes and invoices you generate are stored so you can download them again. Card and UPI details are collected by Razorpay. We do not keep full card numbers on our own servers.

5. Cookies and local storage

CaptionStudio uses the browser’s local storage to keep you signed in, remember projects, and store plan and wallet data on this device. That is how the studio still works if you refresh.

We do not run advertising pixels. If we add analytics later, this page will say what is collected and how to opt out.

6. Processors we use

We use specialist vendors so the product can run. They only get what they need to do their job:

• Speech-to-text providers (for example Deepgram) receive audio to return words and timings.
• Language model providers may receive transcript text for cleanup.
• Email delivery (for example Resend) sends the confirmation link when you sign up.
• Hosting (for example Railway or a similar host) runs the application.
• Payments (Razorpay) charge Creator and Pro Max plans.

7. How long we keep data

Uploaded media is processed to produce captions. You can turn on automatic file wipe in Security so uploads are treated as temporary.

Account email and plan data stay until you ask us to delete the account, or until you delete local studio data in the browser. Support emails are kept long enough to resolve the request, then archived or removed.

If the law requires a longer hold (for example a tax invoice), we keep only that record.

8. Sharing

We share data only with the processors above, if the law requires it, or if you ask us to (for example a refund conversation). We do not sell personal data. We do not rent your list.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the account data we hold. Write to nkmalhotra4503@gmail.com from the same address you used to sign up. We may need to confirm it is you.

You can sign out, stop uploading, and clear this browser’s storage at any time. That removes local projects on this device. It does not automatically erase emails you already sent us — ask if you want those gone too.

10. Children

CaptionStudio is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child created an account, email us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after that date means you accept the new policy. If the change is large, we will also note it in the product.
